Customers at US bank say deposits are missing as angry reports spread on social media
Customers at one of America’s largest banks are reporting missing deposits on social media.
People who bank with Wells Fargo say their direct deposits are not showing up in their accounts.
Reports began to spread across the social media platform X on Thursday as frustrated account holders tried to track down their money.
?-heart attack. So Wells Fargo has a problem with lost deposits, they are aware but don’t know when it will be fixed. I don’t have enough cushion for them to lose a $2K deposit when rent is due. How does a bank stay in business like this @WellsFargo

You “misplaced” two of my deposits as well as God knows how many others. I’m taking my checking, my savings, and my IRA from Wells Fargo Advisors. Safer burying in my backyard! @BurkeandHerbert I’m on my way!

Wells Fargo has not detailed a reason for the missing deposits, but tells CBS News that it expects the issues to be fully resolved in the near term.
“A limited number of customers were unable to see recent deposit transactions on their accounts.
The vast majority have been resolved and the few remaining issues will be resolved soon. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”
According to the service outage monitoring platform Down Detector, users continue to report issues with their accounts and online banking access at time of publishing.
A similar issue happened back in March.
At the time, Wells Fargo said a “technical issue” caused people to see missing deposits and incorrect balances in their accounts.
