Bitcoin to top $110K by Jan, $20B TRX hints at ‘altseason’ — Finance Redefined

Based on its correlation with the liquidity index, Bitcoin may reach a local peak of above $110,000 by January.

Bitcoin surpassed $100,000 for the first time in history on Dec. 5, boosting expectations of a $110,000 “local top” before United States President-elect Donald Trump takes office on Jan. 20.

Risk appetite is also returning among altcoin investors after Tron (TRX) surpassed a record $20 billion market capitalization, bolstering expectations of a forthcoming altcoin season, as some of the profits from Bitcoin (BTC) investors are expected to flow into smaller cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin has entered the “parabolic phase” of the market cycle, as analysts point at a local top of above $110,000 before the end of January.

Analysts are expecting Ether and altcoins like XRP to stage a significant rally leading into Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, which also marks the last day of SEC Chair Gensler.

Bitcoin dominance has printed a significant signal for altcoin investors, that could see smaller cryptocurrencies rally during December and attract more investments ahead of Jan. 20.

Bitcoin (BTC) dominance, which measures the ratio of Bitcoin to the total value of the crypto market, has fallen to 56.1%, below its two-year support line, signaling that the market is “officially in altseason,” wrote popular analyst Mikybull Crypto, in a Nov. 30 X post.

In crypto slang, altseason, short for altcoin season, refers to the collective rally of cryptocurrencies besides BTC, which tend to benefit from Bitcoin’s declining dominance.

3 key metrics point to ‘up only season’ in altcoins — Analysts

The crypto market is recovering from this week’s brutal sell-off, and analysts say 3 key metrics suggest an altcoin season could be on the way.

According to crypto traders, many altcoins are currently displaying some “bullish patterns” that, if they play out as expected, could soon see the market enter an “up-only season. " 

“Altcoin Season Index has been forming one of the most bullish patterns for 3.5 years,” pseudonymous analyst Moustache declared in an Oct. 11 post on X. 

The analyst was referring to an inverse head-and-shoulders (IH&S) chart pattern that had formed on Blockchaincenter’s Altcoin Season Index chart between 2022 and 2024.

Altcoins have displayed strength following Bitcoin’s recent recovery over the past month. This has lead analysts to suggest that the market might be on the brink of an altcoin season.

“The past few days have been very bullish for many #Altcoins!” ParabolicPump, co-founder of Crypto Capital, said in a Sept. 23 post on X. 

Popular trader 360Trader observed that TOTAL3, the total crypto market capitalization excluding BTC and ETH,  had retested the upper boundary of a falling channel.
