Bitcoin price move above $100K could pull SOL, SUI, ICP and ENA higher

Bitcoin bulls keep pushing for $100,000, and if they make it, SUI, ENA, SOL and ICP could also break out.

Bitcoin (BTC) rallied about 4% this week, indicating solid demand at lower levels. The United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) witnessed outflows of $242.3 million on Jan. 2 but bounced back with a vengeance on Jan. 3 with inflows of $908.1 million, per Farside Investors data. This suggests that investors expect Bitcoin to resume its uptrend.

Another positive for Bitcoin is that the selling pressure could be reducing. According to CryptoQuant data, Bitcoin exchange inflow — the total amount of Bitcoin transferred to exchanges — dropped in December from the Nov. 25 peak of 98,748 Bitcoin. Similarly, miner outflows have also declined since the Nov. 11 peak, when miners sent 25,367 Bitcoin to exchanges.

Dfinity, Cambodia agree on advancing smart city innovation

The Swiss-based backer of the Internet Computer Protocol will provide training and entrepreneurial support as well as decentralized computing.

Dfinity, the Swiss foundation behind the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) blockchain, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Cambodia Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation at Token2049. The parties have agreed to pursue research, training and entrepreneurial ecosystem support for smart city infrastructure.

The definition of a smart city is somewhat nebulous but emphasizes the use of advanced information and communications technology. Dfinity already has a presence in Cambodia as a partner of a United Nations Development Program pilot project for its digital Universal Trusted Credentials system.

The LOI is part of Dfinity’s continuing efforts to support the sharing of sovereign cloud technology with governments and international organizations. Dfinity founder and chief scientist Dominic Williams said:

Solid inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs reflect investors' bullish sentiment, and this could push SOL, ICP, GRT and BONK.

Bitcoin (BTC) has been gradually inching higher toward the $70,000 mark, indicating that the sentiment remains positive. United States-based spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds witnessed inflows of $383 million on July 19, per Farside Investors data. That pushed the cumulative net inflows into the ETFs to more than $17 billion since their launch.

As Bitcoin’s price maintains above $65,000, Bitcoin whales seem to have reduced their selling. CryptoQuant head of research Julio Moreno said in a post on X that selling by large Bitcoin investors has exhausted and “valuation metrics suggest positive momentum.”

Bitcoin’s strength has resulted in a recovery in several altcoins. The cryptocurrency markets may receive a further boost from the launch of Ethereum ETFs, which are expected to start trading on July 23.

ICP’s Schnorr integration ushers in Bitcoin DeFi era

Internet Computer Protocol smart contracts will soon be able to etch Runes, trade BRC-20 tokens and enable Bitcoin-based DeFi functionality.

The Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) plans to use advanced threshold cryptography to unlock decentralized finance capabilities and smart contract functionality on Bitcoin’s base layer.

Speaking to Cointelegraph during Paris Blockchain Week, Dfinity senior research scientist Aisling Connolly outlined how ICP’s integration of threshold-Schnorr signatures will enable the protocol’s smart contracts to obtain addresses and authorize transactions directly to the Bitcoin blockchain.

Schnorr signatures are a specific type of digital signature named after mathematician Claus Schnorr. They work like a secret handshake between two parties, proving that one person has signed off on something without revealing their secret code.
