Even if Bitcoin gains half of what it did during price discovery in 2021, that would still propel it to $150,000, one trader said.
Bitcoin may be in for “insane long opportunities” over the coming months, as traders say BTC has now entered a price discovery phase.
“Bitcoin has begun its price discovery phase for this cycle,” said trader and analyst Daan Crypto Trades on X on Dec. 2, noting that the asset has traded above its previous all-time high for almost a month.
He cited previous gains in the past two cycles amid the price discovery stage; Bitcoin (BTC) went up 1,600% during the 2017 bull market and 245% during the 2021 bull market.

MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor gave Microsoft a three-minute, 44-slide pitch on why it should spend $100 billion a year to buy Bitcoin.
MicroStrategy chair and Bitcoin bull Michael Saylor told Microsoft’s board of directors that the firm could add nearly $5 trillion to its market cap if it were to go all-in on Bitcoin.
Saylor made the point during a pitch to Microsoft’s board on why the tech giant should buy Bitcoin, whipping through 44 slides in a little over three minutes.
“Microsoft can’t afford to miss the next technology wave, and Bitcoin is that wave,” Saylor said to open his pitch in a video shared on Dec. 1, which urged Microsoft to convert its cash flows, dividend payouts, stock buybacks and debt into the cryptocurrency, adding:

Bitcoin (BTC) recorded a 129% year-to-date gain, primarily driven by the outcome of the 2024 United States Presidential election and the April 2024 halving event.
According to data from ICO Analytics, Bitcoin also experienced a 37% gain in November 2024. The ICO Analytics data measured monthly Bitcoin performance between 2011-2024 and revealed only three other years where Bitcoin experienced higher percentage gains for November.
These included 2013, with a staggering 459% gain, 2017 at 54%, and 2020, where Bitcoin recorded a 42% gain during the month.
