SEC expands Binance lawsuit: AXS, FIL, ATOM now securities

The SEC’s latest lawsuit update targets additional tokens like Axie Infinity, Filecoin, and Cosmos as unregistered securities, continuing its crackdown on the crypto industry.

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has expanded its lawsuit against Binance, the centralized cryptocurrency exchange, to broaden the scope of its claims.

The SEC’s updated legal filings now list an additional range of tokens as securities, including Axie Infinity (AXS), Filecoin (FIL), Cosmos (ATOM), Sandbox (SAND), and Decentraland (MANA).

The development follows the continued pattern of the SEC’s ongoing efforts to regulate the crypto industry and classify digital assets as securities.

DePIN to be ‘crypto’s next big use case’ — MV Global

Applications range from digital storage to energy markets, the report said, while pointing to significant use cases for the technology.

Decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) will be Web3’s “next big use case,” with the potential to onboard “a significant number of new users to the crypto space,” according to a Sept. 5 report by MV Global, a Web3 investing firm.

“Real-world adoption has accelerated with hundreds of thousands of users of multiple individual protocols,” MV Global said. “[T]his is only the start of what we think will be a massive wave of growth… not only for current Web3 users but also for Web 2 converts.”

DePINs are blockchain protocols aimed at decentralizing real-world infrastructure and systems, including communications networks, data warehouses, energy markets, and more. According to MV Global, the ecosystem currently comprises upward of 1,000 projects and represents more than $50 billion in aggregate market capitalization.

Hashdex files S-1 for ETF to hold Bitcoin, Ether and potentially others

The Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF could see other cryptocurrencies added down the track, subject to all the necessary approvals.

Digital asset manager Hashdex has taken another step in its proposal to offer a combined spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded fund in the United States.

On June 24, the firm submitted an S-1 registration statement for its Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF, which will track certain cryptocurrency assets in the Nasdaq Crypto US Settlement Price Index — a daily closing value of the Nasdaq Crypto Index which measures the performance of a significant portion of the digital asset market.

BNB, TON, FIL, and INJ can go much higher if Bitcoin price flips $69K

Bitcoin is trying to flip the $69,000 level into support, and if it does, BNB, TON, FIL and INJ may move higher.

Bitcoin (BTC) is down from its intra-week high of about $72,000, but the bulls are trying to hold the price above $69,000. Bitcoin is on target to end the week with marginal gains of just over 2%. Although Bitcoin has failed to rise above the overhead resistance, buyers have remained in place.

Farside Investors data shows roughly $1.7 billion in inflows into spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds this week. That takes the total investments into spot Bitcoin ETFs to $15.5 billion as of June 6. The strong buying suggests traders anticipate the up move will continue.

However, Bitcoin fell on June 7, which pulled several altcoins lower. Trader Daan Crypto Trades said in X post that Bitcoin’s open interest dropped by $1.3 billion and Ether’s by $800 million during the fall. The decline does not seem to have unnerved investors. QCP Capital believes that Bitcoin and Ether will likely form local lows as the Federal Reserve’s future actions may benefit risk assets.
