Binance buys the dip adding over 43K Bitcoin to wallet

A Binance whale wallet added 43,000 Bitcoin to its reserves while Bitcoin’s third-largest wallet continues to buy the dip.

Bitcoin billionaires continue to accumulate during the dip. As Bitcoin (BTC) filled the $42 thousand December price wick this morning, Bitcoin whales were busy stacking sats.

One address belonging to Binance added 43,000 BTC on Tuesday at an average price of $46,553.68, bringing the wallet's total value to $5.5 billion.

Elsewhere, the third-largest Bitcoin address continued its spending spree, adding another 551 BTC since Cointelegraph last reported it bought the dip, just two days ago. The wallet continues to aggressively accumulate in the $40 thousand range, now owning a total of 121,396 BTC or roughly $5 billion.

There was some consternation on social media platforms about the wallet owner behind the $43,000 BTC buy, but Binance confirmed ownership of the address in a tweet sent out in 2019.

The intended use of wallet address "3LYJfcfHPXYJreMsASk2jkn69LWEYKzexb" was for the company to issue a number of crypto-pegged tokens on Binance Chain, starting with BTCB, a BEP2 token pegged to BTC.

However, the wallet appears to have evolved into a cold storage wallet for the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. In a tweet by advanced blockchain tracker @whale_alert in April last year, the wallet was again labeled as the Binance BTC reserve wallet address.

Although the wallet has been used to mint 13,001 BTC onto the Binance Smart Chain, the owner has never sold a single Satoshi. Since June 17, 2019, it has accumulated a whopping 116,601.13647202 BTC.

At the time of writing, the wallet is valued at roughly $4,982,770,577 or just shy of $5 billion. Talk about diamond hands.

Third-largest whale celebrates Bitcoin’s birthday with 456 BTC buy

After adding a 456 Bitcoin buy, the third-largest whale now holds 120,845.57 BTC, worth over $5.6 billion.

It is now 13 years since the genesis block of the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain was created, which marked the beginning of the chain. To commemorate the occasion, the third-largest Bitcoin whale appears to be back after the new year holidays, and he or she has just completed the first sizable purchase of 2022.

On Jan. 4, the third-largest Bitcoin address added 456 BTC at an average price of $46,363, equivalent to around $21 million, according to data from Bitinfocharts. com.

At the time of this writing, the whale holds 120,845.57 BTC worth over $5.6 billion. The holder's identity remains a mystery, but it appears that the entity is making full use of the current price volatility. Bitcoin has dropped 1.7% in the last 24 hours and 8.9% over the last week, currently trading at around $46,603.

Meanwhile, the bearish factors weighing on the cryptocurrency market at the end of 2021 have persisted throughout the first week of 2022 after Bitcoin's price fell below $47,000 on Jan. 1 and it continues to face strong headwinds on shorter timeframes charts.

Despite the short-term difficulties for Bitcoin, many investors remain enthusiastic. Analyst and pseudonymous Twitter user GalaxyBTC recently shared this chart showing a potential breakout in the first quarter of 2021.

Dormant Bitcoin wallet holding 321 BTC activated after eight years

For one reason or another, the wallet has not transacted for years despite having what is considered life-changing money.

A Bitcoin wallet containing millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin (BTC) has come out of dormancy. For one reason or another, the wallet has not transacted for years despite having what is considered life-changing money.

The wallet had not been used since 2013, barely a few years after the mysterious Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared. The wallet currently contains $15 million worth of BTC, and it’s unclear who owns this account or why it was reactivated on Tuesday.

The wallet has 321 BTC. After eight years, the value of this amount has increased from $6,594 to a staggering $15,103,046. By now, the funds in the wallet had appreciated almost 2,300 times.

The Bitcoin community is abuzz with speculation about who owns the wallet and why it has just come out of dormancy. Some believe that it could be a whale — an individual or group with a large stash of Bitcoin — who is about to make a move that will shake up the market.

A Twitter user proposed several reasons for the wallet activation in a comment thread. Many possibilities exist according to them, from Satoshi Nakamoto deciding to return to a patient investor who is going to sell their BTC now to someone just recalling their seed phrase for their Bitcoin wallet.

In recent months, several dormant Bitcoin wallets from 2011–2013 have been reactivated, each containing tens of millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin. On Sept. 19, the owner of a dormant Bitcoin wallet emptied their account and transferred all 616 BTC to different accounts.

Old, sleeping wallets from the early days of Bitcoin are being reactivated with large amounts of cryptocurrency inside. Early investors who put up a few hundred dollars and kept their stakes have evolved into BTC whales, with values continuing to rise.

Another Bitcoin wallet awoke in January after having been inactive since June 2010. The wallet had $5 million worth of BTC. In June 2021, another Bitcoin whale account with 900 BTC became active. On Sunday, another dormant address with 235 BTC ($11,114,901) was reactivated after nine years. A dormant address containing 225 BTC was activated on Thursday after almost eight-and-a-half years.

Shiba Inu falls after $2.3B of SHIB moved from whale wallet

The billionaire whale moved $2.3B worth of SHIB to four different wallets and some investors are getting nervous.

The price of Shiba Inu has fallen 11% after a series of transactions from the whale wallet that famously transformed a $3400 purchase last August into $1.55B.

On November 2, the whale moved ten trillion, one hundred thousand Shiba Inu tokens to four separate wallets. Each transaction was worth approximately $586M USD, totaling about $2.3B USD.

After the wallet was first identified, social media users speculated that the owner may have forgotten or lost their key, given the lack of activity in the wallet since last year.

But with the whale waking up, the transactions have prompted some fear in the community that the holder is preparing to sell his tokens. The whale owns such a large percentage of the supply, that any liquidation could potentially prompt a massive price plunge.

“If he decided to sell these bags, SHIB would plummet -99.99% to zero,” tweeted financial analyst Jacob Oracle.

The movements sparked downward pressure on the price which has fallen 31.2% from its ATH seven days ago and 10.8% in the last 24 hours according to data from CoinGecko.

The ownership of Shiba Inu is concentrated, with the top 10 wallets holding almost 72% of the coins in circulation according to CoinMarketCap.com.

The whale’s original wallet still currently holds over $1.8M worth of SHIB.
