Protocols are continuing to race for interoperability solutions. With dozens of layer-1 blockchains on the market, communication between networks has become a significant pain point for the broader adoption of Web3-based applications.

One of the players in this game is Axelar protocol. The company announced on Oct. 2 its Mobius Development Stack (MDS), offering a new platform for self-service integration with both onchain and offchain systems, allowing decentralized applications to connect across various blockchain networks.

The platform debuted supporting Solana, Stellar, Sui and XRP Ledger, with additional security features from Babylon and EigenLayer. The stack also offers the Interchain Token Service (ITS), allowing developers to tokenize assets like real estate and intellectual property on any blockchain.

SEC files appeal in Ripple lawsuit

The Securities and Exchange Commission first filed the lawsuit against Ripple Labs and both its founders in December 2020.

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a notice of appeal in the Ripple lawsuit on Oct. 2, 2024, seeking to overturn an earlier ruling from Judge Analisa Torres.

Legal experts anticipated the regulatory agency's appeal of the 2023 verdict set by Judge Torres, which established that secondary sales of Ripple's XRP did not constitute securities sales.

Torres ruled that XRP was not a security, in and of itself, due to the digital assets' failure to satisfy all the conditions listed in the SEC's Howey test to classify a financial asset as an investment contract.

The crypto-focused asset manager filed the exchange-traded fund application in the state of Delaware.

An application for a Bitwise XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) has appeared on the State of Delaware’s Division of Corporations website. Cointelegraph independently confirmed the filing with a Bitwise spokesperson.

According to the filing, the Bitwise XRP ETF was incorporated on Sept. 30, 2024. The registered agent was listed as CSC Delaware Trust Company, which is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.

The application comes just a few months after Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, hinted about the upcoming financial product, describing an XRP ETF as “inevitable” following the launch of Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in the United States.
