Switzerland’s Largest Bank Tests Tokenized Gold Product on Ethereum Layer-2 ZKsync

Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), the largest bank in Switzerland, is testing a tokenized gold product on Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 scaling solution ZKsync (ZK). In a new thread on the social media platform X, the developers behind ZKsync say that UBS is testing out its tokenized gold investment products on the blockchain as a means […]

Ethereum layer-2 Scroll tips native token launch

The token, SCR, will be distributed through an Oct. 22 airdrop and listed on Binance, Scroll said.

Scroll is preparing to launch its native token, SCR, in what the Ethereum layer-2 (L2) network describes as its “first step toward decentralization.”

On Oct. 22, Scroll plans to list SCR on Binance and airdrop the token among the network’s existing users, according to an Oct. 8 blog post.

According to Scroll, “SCR will be used as a primary governance mechanism of the protocol and progress to being a protocol utility token as Scroll becomes more decentralized.”

Users say ZKasino still hasn’t returned ETH months after claims opened

The project claimed it was allowing users 72 hours to sign up to receive their ETH back, but two months later, the funds have not moved.

Controversial Web3 gambling protocol ZKasino still has not returned users’ Ether, more than two months after they launched a “signup” app for refunds, according to reports from users.

The project was previously accused of being an exit scam. But on May 28, the team promised to use a new app to return the funds that had been bridged to the network. But users claim the app simply took their ZKAS tokens and gave them nothing in return.

“Unfortunately, everyone who sent the ZKAS back has not heard anything from them yet,” one user, who communicated on the condition that his identity not be revealed, told Cointelegraph.

Full decentralization will happen in a few years — Layer-2 rollup teams

Several layer-2 rollup teams, including those for Linea, zkSync, Arbitrum and Optimism, claimed that full decentralization is coming soon.

Full decentralization of Ethereum layer 2s will happen in a few years, multiple teams told Cointelegraph in June.

The goal of decentralization has been held back by a variety of factors, including a desire to implement user experience and security improvements. However, progress is now being made toward decentralizing these networks, and “Stage 2” will be reached soon, the teams claimed.

The concept of “Stage 2 decentralization” refers to the final stage of Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin’s list of layer-2 decentralization milestones. It is also called “full decentralization,” as it would theoretically make censorship nearly impossible to perform on the networks.

‘Airdrop Hunter’ Receives 3,000 Worth of ZK Tokens Before Depositing Into Binance: Lookonchain

An “airdrop hunter” secured $753,000 worth of the new ZKsync token (ZK) via 85 wallets, according to the crypto tracker Lookonchain. Lookonchain notes the trader proceeded to deposit 2.71 million ZK worth $678,000 into Binance and sold 300,000 ZK for 20 Ethereum (ETH) worth $69,000 via the decentralized exchange (DEX) SyncSwap. ZKsync is a layer-2 […]

41% of top ZK airdrop wallets have already sold everything — Nansen

The data covered the “top 10,000 addresses” that received zkSync’s new ZK token, though that only makes up 1.4% of the total wallets eligible for the ZK airdrop.

Nearly half of the top wallets that received the new zkSync (ZK) token on Monday, June 17, have already sold their entire allocation in the airdrop, contributing to a 34.5% fall in the price of ZK since its launch.

Data from blockchain analytics firm Nansen shows that nearly 41% of tracked addresses sold their entire airdrop, while 29.2% sold at least some of their tokens. The total amount sold across both cohorts was over 486 million ZK.

Just over 30% of the top receiving wallets have held onto their ZK tokens.
