‘Lost’ Yuga Labs restructures again, with layoffs, new executive

The creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club has been struggling with a changing market and still plans to focus on its Otherside metaverse project.

Yuga Labs CEO Greg Solano had a “tough day,” he informed company employees in a message that he then shared with the world on X. Some of those employees had an even worse day after an all-hands meeting where layoffs were announced. Yuga lost its way, Solano explained.

In his message to the staff, Solano said he had been appraising the company in the two months since he took over as CEO, and his conclusion was unsettling:

“Creator royalties were thriving and made our whole ecosystem electric. Now we’re in hard mode,” Solano said, but he has a plan.

TikTok parent company explores on-chain possibilities for Web3 gaming and AI

BytePlus is partnering with Mysten Labs to integrate advanced AI algorithms and data warehousing technology into the Sui blockchain ecosystem.

BytePlus — the enterprise technology arm of ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company — has announced a move into Web3 through a strategic partnership with Mysten Labs, the developers behind the Sui layer-1 blockchain. 

In a statement on April 17, BytePlus explained how it plans to use its existing knowledge and experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and data warehousing to empower the Sui ecosystem, with a particular focus on Web3 gaming and SocialFi projects.

The partnership will see BytePlus integrate its cutting-edge solutions, including ByteHouse — a cloud-native data warehouse — with Sui’s full-node data.

Yat Siu, the founder of Animoca Brands, spoke at WebSummit Rio on April 16 on a panel titled "Bitcoin’s Revenge: Is Web3 Making a Comeback?” 

At the panel, Siu said he has no doubt that Bitcoin (BTC) will reach $1 million:
